With the first challenge of the blog a success I wanted to continue with another endurance like challenge to make it two for the year! What better than an ultra run?!
I have always liked running and having previously completed two marathons and several half marathon trail runs I thought why not combine it all and go a little further. My first trail running ultra marathon.
I intend to make the training programme a little bit better for this challenge. Already having a level of fitness and in the groove of keeping moving regularly, training will be more challenge specific rather than some general stuff designed to keep me active.
The challenge will be on Saturday 6th October 2018 when I will attempt to run 50 km over the Peak District’s moors in the Dark Peak event.
Starting off on the iconic Pennine way from the village of Hope, this Ultra will take me into the heart of the Peak District national park where I will soon be greeted with some brutal climbs, high ridge lines and fast technical descending, the total elevation will be well over 2100 metres. With the time of year and the nature of this course, this one will surely push me to my limits!!
The challenge is now set, and this is the Starting point!
