Second day on the east face

23/02/18

Quad lift up to Aonach Mor summit plateau and abseil down easy gully.

Fantastic sunshine all day, westerly wind growing in strength as day progressed. Beautiful views all around with fantastic visibility. Out of the wind all day due to the direction.

Traversed into central buttress along the snow slope. Led ‘left twin’. The middle pitch I ran out the rope for a 45-50 metre ice pitch which was fantastic, but tiring.

Abseiled back down easy gully and Led ‘tunnel vision’. Left crampon came loose half way up first pitch, 5 metres above my last gear. Had to tenuously down climb and lower off to fix crampon before climbing the route.

Good day with fantastic weather both brilliant routes. Got down just before the gondola was shut due to high winds.
